Young opener Prithvi Shaw on Sunday said that he is enjoying opening for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022 alongside Australian star David Warner. Shaw and Warner defeated Kolkata Knight Riders’ new ball attack in the power play in the 19th match of the season. Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

David Warner, who could not make it to his maiden outing for Delhi Capitals, was showing signs of his old self on Sunday as DC got off to a solid start in the powerplay after Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to field.

Prithvi Shaw and Warner attacked KKR’s new bowlers including Umesh Yadav, Rasikh Salam and Varun Chakraborty, adding 93 runs for the opening wicket in just 52 balls.

Prithvi Shaw hit 2 sixes and 7 fours in his 29-ball 51 while Warner made 61 runs which included 2 sixes and 6 fours. Warner was happy to play the second fiddle with Shaw in the powerplay, but after the young opener was dismissed, the left-hander took charge as Delhi posted 215 runs in 20 overs.

Prithvi told the broadcasters, “I love watching him from the non-striker’s end. He was hitting very well. He is in good rhythm. I hope we do well at the top in the upcoming matches as well.”

Warner’s return to form should be a happy sight for DC as the former finalist showed faith in the Australia star, who was dropped as captain by Sunrisers Hyderabad last year. Warner was bought by DC for Rs 6.25 crore.

Meanwhile, Prithvi himself is enjoying a purple patch, scoring 2 consecutive half-centuries for Delhi Capitals. Shaw had hit 61 off just 34 balls against the Lucknow Super Giants, where most of the batsmen struggled.

Talking about his good run in IPL 2022, Shaw said, “Just keeping it really simple. It was a good wicket to bat on. PP was important for us, and we made the most.”
