Day after blast at Ukraine embassy, suspicious envelope found at US Embassy in Spain

A day after a letter bomb was ignited at the Ukrainian embassy in Spain, a suspicious envelope was discovered at the US embassy.

by the associated pressSpanish officials say a suspicious envelope was found at the US embassy in Madrid and is under police custody.

The discovery on Thursday came as police reported a wave of explosive packages being sent to the Spanish capital, including one that ignited at the Ukrainian embassy.

Police said other explosive devices hidden in postal packages were sent over the past two days to Spain’s Defense Ministry, an EU satellite center in Spain and an arms factory that makes grenades sent to Ukraine.

Spain’s interior ministry said police detonated the envelope found at the US embassy. There were no reports of injuries.
