“It’s not about me being in the top-three or four. It is about building a strong core to ensure that the franchise does not suffer. Core group, we will have to work hard to see who can contribute in the next 10 years.”

The CSK official also said that any celebrations by the team will be awaited until the captain returns to the UAE after finishing his role as a mentor with the Indian T20 World Cup squad.

“The celebration of Dhoni’s return will have to wait after playing the role of mentor of the Indian team for the T20 World Cup,” he added.

Meanwhile, CSK’s star batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad returned to Pune on Sunday with a warm welcome. The stylish right-handed batsman had scored 635 runs to win the Orange Cup for the highest run-scorer in the recently concluded IPL.
