CSIR UGC-NET Application Begins, From Eligibility to Exam Pattern, All You Need to Know

National Testing Agency (NTA) Universities and colleges in India will conduct the combined CSIR-UGC NET exam in June 2022 to determine the eligibility of Indian citizens for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Lectureship (LS) and Assistant Professorship. The last date for online application and fee transaction is August 10, at the official website csirnet.nta.nic.in till 11.50 PM.

The correction window will open from August 12 to 16. The date and time of the exam will be announced on the NTA website in due course of time. The total test papers include chemical science, earth, atmospheric, ocean and planetary science, life science, mathematical science, physical science. The medium of paper will be English and Hindi.

CSIR UGC-NET Registration 2022: Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications: Candidates must have cleared MSc or equivalent degree, integrated BS-MS, BS four years, BE, BTech or BPharm. Those willing to apply for JRF must also have done MBBS with at least 55 per cent marks for General (UR), General-EWS and OBC candidates and 50 per cent marks for SC, ST, third gender and PWD candidates . Those whose BE, BS, BTech, BPharm or MBBS final results are awaited are only eligible to apply for the fellowship.

Age Range: For JRF, the maximum age limit is 28 years as on July 1, 2021, but is relaxable up to five years in case of SC, ST, third gender, PWD and women candidates and up to three years in case of OBC-NCL applicants. There is no age limit for Lectureship and Assistant Professor.

Step 1: Register using your email id and mobile number

Step 2: Fill the online application form and note down the system generated application number

Step 3: Recent photograph (size 10 kb – 200 kb), candidate’s signature (file size: 4 kb – 30 kb), duly attested result awaited verification form (file size: 50 kb to 500 kb), and category proof Upload the scanned images of the letter, if applicable.

Step 4: Pay the prescribed fee online

Step 5: Download and save the confirmation page for future reference.

Candidates belonging to General and General-EWS will have to pay Rs 1000, OBC-NCL Rs 50, third gender, SC and ST category candidates Rs 250 and no examination fee for PWD category candidates.

CSIR UGC-NET Registration 2022: Exam Pattern

There will be objective type questions in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode of three hours. The total marks per paper is 200. All the papers will be divided into three parts. Part ‘A’ will be same for all subjects and will have questions related to General Aptitude with emphasis on Logical Reasoning, Graphical Analysis, Analytical and Numerical Ability, Quantitative Comparison, Series Formation, Puzzle etc.

Part ‘B’ will contain subject related conventional MCQs covering the topics given in the syllabus of the subject to be chosen by the candidate. Part ‘C’ will contain questions of higher order which may test the candidate’s knowledge of scientific concepts and/or application of scientific concepts. The questions will be of analytical nature where a candidate is expected to apply scientific knowledge to arrive at a solution to a given scientific problem.
