Crude bomb explodes in crowded Patna court, constable injured – Henry’s Club

A country-made bomb exploded inside the overcrowded civil court premises here on Friday, injuring a police officer who had brought explosives for the purpose of investigation.

SHO of Pirbahore police station Sabiul Haque said the police sub-inspector sustained injury on his hand but was out of danger.

“The injured SI, Umakant Rai, is posted at Kadam Kuan police station. Recently some crude bombs were confiscated in his area and he brought these to the court as per normal investigation procedure.

Rai was carrying a bomb in a box which he had placed on the desk of the Assistant Prosecution Officer concerned when the explosion took place.

Passers-by said that they initially felt the sound of tire bursting which is common in the area which is a block for vehicular movement.

However, he realized what had happened after seeing Rai covered in soot and moaning in pain.

The SHO of Pirbahore said that an investigation is on to find out whether the bombs were properly defused before being brought to the court.
