New Delhi: When it comes to transfers, fans can expect the unexpected in the football world and hence the month of August saw an unlikely deal. Premier League giants Manchester United surprised the world by signing five-time Ballon d’Or winner and Portuguese great Cristiano Ronaldo for the second time after 11 years.
The legendary striker has completed a surprise return to the Premier League club on a two-year contract with the option to extend it after telling Juventus he wanted to leave. Ronaldo had reportedly agreed a transfer fee in the region of €15 million, plus €8 million in add-ons with Juventus.
Ever since Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Manchester United has been confirmed, fans have been excited about his debut match.
Meanwhile, former England cricketer Michael Vaughan feels that the India vs England fifth and final Test, scheduled to be played in Manchester on Saturday, will be irrelevant as Cristiano Ronaldo will make his debut on the same day.
Vaughan told Cricbuzz, “Cristiano Ronaldo is making his debut on Saturday at 3 PM (7:30 PM IST), so I’m telling you the Test match will be irrelevant. Forget Test cricket that day, it’s only Ronaldo would.”
