new Delhi: After weeks of declining trend in the number of COVID cases in the country, India has registered a modest increase. The country recorded 7,554 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, while 223 people succumbed to the virus on Tuesday.
Yesterday India recorded 6915 cases and 180 deaths. According to the data released by the Union Health Ministry, now the number of active cases in the country has come down to 85,680.
Maharashtra
Maharashtra recorded 675 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, including 104 omicron infections and five pandemic-related deaths, the health department said.
The state’s COVID-19 caseload rose to 78,66,380 and the death toll climbed to 1,43,706.
On Monday, 407 new cases and four deaths were reported in Maharashtra.
Of the 104 new omicron infections, 41 were from Pune city, 12 from Sindhudurg district, 14 from Aurangabad, 11 from Mumbai, eight from Jalna and Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, five from Thane Municipal Corporation, three from Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation and two from Satara. . Total 4,773 omicron Infections have been found so far in the state. Of these, 4,509 patients have been cured.
1,225 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the number of discharged patients to 77,12,568. The number of active cases in the state is 6,106.
Mumbai recorded 77 new coronavirus cases while Pune recorded 128 cases. The two cities did not report any deaths.
Tamil Nadu
Tamil Nadu recorded 348 new Covid-19 infections on Tuesday, taking the total to 34,49,721 and the two deaths taking the tally to 38,006 so far. According to the Health Department, five infected people have returned from Assam, Bihar and Bangladesh.
A bulletin said that in the last 24 hours, new cases have been reported with 1,025 people being discharged.
Chennai has the majority of new cases with 92, followed by Coimbatore with 51.
