covid-19 case: According to the data of the Union Health Ministry, 5,357 new cases of corona virus were reported in India, while 11 people died. The active tally now stands at 32,814 cases.

While three deaths were reported from Gujarat, two from Himachal Pradesh and one each from Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh, besides one was tallied from Kerala, updated at 8 am.

The ministry said that the number of Covid cases has crossed 4.47 crore (4,47,56,616), active cases now comprise 0.07 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate stood at 98.74 per cent.

The number of people who have recovered from the disease increased to 4,41,92,837, while the fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 percent. According to the website of the ministry, 220.66 crore doses of Kovid vaccine have been given so far in the country under the nationwide vaccination campaign.

Just a day earlier, the nation recorded 6,155 fresh infections, while the active tally saw a spike and increased to 31,194.

UP government makes testing mandatory for international travelers

Amid rising cases of COVID-19 across the country, the Uttar Pradesh government has made COVID testing mandatory for all international travelers on arrival in the state. The state government has also directed the concerned authorities to conduct genome sequencing on those samples which have tested positive for coronavirus.

Haryana makes masks mandatory

Amid the rise in Covid cases, the Haryana government has made it mandatory to wear face masks in public places, said a bulletin issued by the Haryana Health Department on Saturday.

The statement said, “It is informed that in a meeting held on 03.04.2023 under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Health Minister, Haryana, it has been observed that there has been a significant increase in the number of Covid cases with increase in the positivity rate. COVID-19 infection in the state of Haryana in the last few weeks.

Masks mandatory for elderly, pregnant women in Kerala

Health Minister Veena George on Saturday said that masks are mandatory for pregnant women, the elderly and those suffering from lifestyle diseases as it is necessary to protect the elderly and bed-ridden patients from the disease.

The minister said after holding a high-level meeting to evaluate the Covid situation in the state that Covid-related deaths mostly occur in people above 60 years of age and those suffering from lifestyle diseases such as diabetes.
