The Andhra Pradesh government on Wednesday revised the price charged by private laboratories for RT-PCR tests. Now its price has been fixed at Rs. 350. RTPCR tests are done to detect the presence of COVID-19 in a person.
The reduction in prices comes in the form of a rise in the number of Covid cases in the state. The active Covid cases in the state touched the 21 lakh mark on Saturday. The rate of RT-PCR test by private laboratories was earlier Rs 499 in the state.
Andhra Pradesh recorded 6,996 new cases of COVID-19 during the last 24 hours, the state health department said on Tuesday. With this, the total COVID-19 cases in the state have gone up to 21,17,384.
Five people lost their lives to the deadly virus during the last 24 hours. The death toll from this virus in the state is currently 14,514.
