COVID-19: PM Modi to interact with Chief Ministers of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Odisha

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with the Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Odisha, Maharashtra and Kerala on July 16 to discuss the situation related to COVID-19 in these states.

Prime Minister Modi will interact with the Chief Ministers of these states through video conferencing on July 16 at 11 am.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister interacted with the Chief Ministers of North-Eastern states on the COVID-19 situation.

During the interaction, Prime Minister Modi lauded the people, health workers and the governments of the Northeast for working hard in the fight against the pandemic and creating the infrastructure for testing, treatment and vaccination despite the difficult terrain of the states.

Considering the capacity of 20 lakh tests per day in the country, the Prime Minister highlighted the need to augment the testing infrastructure in the affected district on a priority basis.

Prime Minister Modi emphasized on random testing as well as aggressive testing and expressed hope that the spread would be contained by collective efforts.

The Prime Minister’s interaction assumes significance as the Centre, as part of the nationwide immunization drive, is supporting states and union territories by providing them with free COVID vaccines.

In the new phase of universalization of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign, the central government will procure and supply (free of cost) 75 per cent of the vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to the states and union territories.
