covid 19: Center has approved the release of the second installment of Rs 7,274 crore of the central share of the State Disaster Relief Fund. India News – Times of India

New Delhi: Putting sufficient funds at the disposal of the states for giving ex-gratia to the next of kin of deceased COVID-19 patients, Amit Shah has approved an advance release of Rs 7,274 crore to 23 states as the second installment of the central share of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).
Earlier, Rs 1599 crore was released in advance to five states as part of the second installment also.
The state governments will now have an amount of Rs 23,186 crore in their SDRF including the state’s share during 2021-22. This will be in addition to the opening balance available in their SDRF. The latest funds released by the Center are expected to help states meet the expenses of providing ex-gratia to the next of kin of the deceased due to COVID-19 and relief on other notified calamities.
The Government of India had issued an order dated 25.09.2021 modifying the items and norms of assistance under SDRF with a provision for grant of ex-gratia to the next of kin of the deceased due to COVID-19. This enabling provision has been made in the SDRF norms to implement the guidelines issued by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on 11.09.2021 in compliance with the order passed by Hon’ble Supreme court This year on June 30.
