Controversy over new special prosecutor in Punjab: Former SIT member of sacrilege case raised questions on appointment of Advocate Bains, Kunwar Vijay Pratap said – did not defend right

There has been a controversy over the appointment of new Special Prosecutor Advocate RS Bains appointed by the Punjab Government. Former SIT member Kunwar Vijay Pratap, who investigated sacrilege cases, has questioned his functioning. Kunwar Vijay Pratap has resigned from the post of IG and joined Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He said that this advocate was earlier also a lawyer in the case of a victim. They did not defend him in his manner. So his appointment is just eye wash.

Kunwar Vijay Pratap said that Congress is doing another big deception with Punjab and Punjabis. Dust is being thrown in the eyes with the appointment of Special Public Prosecutor in the Kotkapura-Behbal Kalan cases. The new Special Public Prosecutor was fighting the case of Ajit Singh, the main victim in the Kotkapura shootout, which was quashed on 9 April 2021. After the investigation report was rejected, Kunwar resigned from the post of IG and joined AAP.

Questions raised on Advocate General also

Kunwar Vijay Pratap also raised questions on the new Advocate General (AG) of Punjab APS Deol. Navjot Sidhu was demanding their removal. Deol has been a lawyer for former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini and IG Paramraj Umranangal in a shooting case. He got both of them Blanket Bell in that case. Kunwar also said that retaining the Advocate General clearly shows the intention of the present Punjab government.

Kunwar Vijay Pratap has been an IPS officer. Captain Amarinder Singh has been a member of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed during the government. After investigating the cases related to sacrilege and firing, he presented a challan in the High Court. However, the members of the SIT formed by the government were not involved in this, due to which the High Court dismissed it. After this, angry Kunwar resigned. Then he joined the Aam Aadmi Party. Now he has again filed a petition in the High Court regarding the matter.
