“PMAY-G guidelines provide for construction of a house within 12 months from the date of sanction to the beneficiary. Assistance is released to the beneficiary in at least 3 installments linked to different stages of completion viz. that at that time the clearance, clearance of foundation, plinth, window, lintel, roof, etc. Since the figures of house approval and completion are dynamic and there is a gap of 12 months till the completion of the house approval, therefore, there will always be some lag Between the figures of the houses sanctioned and the houses constructed during the implementation of the scheme,” she said.
The Minister said that during the period of nationwide lockdown induced by the COVID-19 pandemic, all construction activities including construction of houses under PMAY-G were also affected, slowing down the pace of construction of PMAY-G houses.
“Besides, the delay is also due to the delay in releasing the share of the Center and the State. state treasury In the state nodal account of PMAY-G, cases of reluctance of beneficiaries to complete construction, migration, disputed succession of deceased beneficiaries, delay in allotment of land by States/UTs to landless beneficiaries and sometimes due to simple reasons /Assembly/Panchayat elections, non-availability of construction material etc,” he said.
He also told that central cabinet The PMAY-G has been approved for continuation from March 2021 to March 2024 to complete the remaining households within the cumulative target of 2.95 crore houses under PMAY-G.
