“Whatever decision the Congress wants to take is welcome. I have always given my best to the party and the people who have elected me time and again.

I am indebted to him and will continue to serve him as always. I get my strength from my people. Everything else is secondary,” Kaur said on Twitter on Saturday.

Congress disciplinary panel member secretary Tariq Anwar had said the action against her came following complaints by the party’s Punjab unit chief Amarinder Raja Waring and other state leaders that she was helping the BJP in the state.

“The Congress President has received a complaint from PCC Punjab President Amarinder Singh Raja Waring that Patiala MP (Lok Sabha) Preneet Kaur is indulging in anti-party activities to help the BJP.

“Some other senior Congress leaders from Punjab also share this view,” Anwar said in a statement.

This was not the first time that Kaur was issued a show cause notice by the party.

In November 2021, the Congress issued him a show cause notice seeking an explanation for his alleged “anti-party activities”. Media.

In May last year, Punjab Congress chief Waring had also said that Kaur was no longer with the party.

In the 2022 state assembly elections, Kaur also campaigned for her husband Amarinder Singh, who contested as an ally of the BJP.

Kaur has been an MP in 1999, 2004 and 2009. She lost the Patiala Lok Sabha seat in 2014, but won again in 2019.
