Coimbatore: Coimbatore city police has come first in Tamil Nadu for effective implementation of e-governance in the last two months.
The police registered more than 11,000 files through e-office Ranked number one in the system and state in December 2021.

The Tamil Nadu government’s e-governance policy was released in 2017. The e-office suite is being implemented as per this policy. DGP Office and all District Police Offices, City Police Offices and entire Police Department in a phased manner.
TNEGA (Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency) is the nodal agency which is implementing this package for all the departments. TNeGA has introduced e-Office, a tool of applications for conducting office procedures electronically. E-Office will enable electronic file management system for quick disposal of files, resulting in better utilization of manpower, thereby avoiding delays and leading to better governance.
E-Office aims to eliminate the use of paper and make most of the office communication electronic. Police officials said that e-office is a web-based application in which separate logins were given for ranks from ministerial staff (junior assistant, superintendent, account officer, administrative officer).
They can log in to the e-office application and upload the details of transfer, leave, medical leave, General Provident Fund (GPF), arms license and others of police officers. The e-file will reach the concerned sanctioning officers (Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters or Superintendent of Police, Additional Superintendent of Police) for approval.
The advantage of e-office application is speed. This will reduce the time delay and all the files can be shared through the application and it will reach from different city or rural police to the headquarters instantly.
“The application helps for transparency. Officials can monitor file details from one place and check pending files with whom. This helped in increasing the speed and efficiency of work,” said Pradeep Kumar.
The e-office system was introduced in Coimbatore city police in March 2020. The DGP’s office announced in October 2021 that the first three ranks would be taken into account every month based on the number of files dealt with by the commissioners’ office. of Police and Superintendents of Police from the month of November 2021.
Pradeep Kumar said, “We have filed 9975 files in e-office application for the month of November and 11316 files in December 2021. City police has topped the state level for successfully implementing e-governance. ”
Commissioner of Police Pradeep Kumar and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters) Selvaraj handed over the letters of appreciation of the DGP to the employees of the ministry on Friday.
