Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has written a letter to Governor Banwari Lal Purohit for early signing of the bill passed in the Vidhansabha regarding amendment in Gurdwara Act 1925. CM Mann has also tweeted, in which he has said that the telecast of holy Gurbani should not go into the hands of Badal family’s company again.
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) recently announced that they are launching YouTube channel on 24th July. On which Gurbani will be broadcast. Presently this broadcast is being broadcast on a private channel. After this the CM has taken this step.
Important things of CM in the letter written to the Governor
1. Making profit from Gurbani
As you know, a particular channel is owned by a political family. Profit is being earned from the Sarab-Sanjhi Gurbani being broadcast from Sri Harmandir Sahib.
2. Bill passed for independent broadcasting
In order to propagate the teachings of the holy Gurus and to make the transmission of Sarb-Sanjhi Gurbani from Sri Harimandir Sahib freely available to all, the Gurdwaras (Amendment) Bill 2023 was introduced. The assembly considered the bill and passed it with an overwhelming majority.
3. Not signing the bill is throttling democracy

As per information, SGPC’s agreement with the said channel is expiring on July 23, 2023. If you do not sign the bill immediately, it may lead to a situation that will affect lakhs of devotees.
The world will be deprived of watching the live telecast of holy Gurbani. This will seriously hurt their religious sentiments. Therefore, I request you to sign this bill as soon as possible, so that the broadcast of Gurbani can be made available free of cost.

SGPC named the radio channel
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) is going to start telecast of Gurbani from 24th July. SGPC will not start a separate channel for this, but is going to start a YouTube channel for this. SGPC has announced its name on Friday. This information was given by SGPC’s chief advocate Dhami.
