Delhi and District Association of India DDCA will felicitate Cheteshwar Pujara during the second Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia at Feroz Shah Kotla ground, Arun Jaitley Stadium, starting on Friday. The 35-year-old is set to play his 100th Test match at the Kotla

“We will felicitate Cheteshwar Pujara with a memento before the start of the first day here at the Arun Jaitley Stadium,” DDCA joint secretary Rajan Manchanda told cricketnext.com.

Pujara will become only the 13th Indian player to achieve the feat of 100 matches in Tests when he takes the field for the second Test.

“Chairman Rohan Jaitley will be present here during the felicitation ceremony along with other office bearers. This would be different from the BCCI’s plan for Pujara’s 100th Test. Added Manchanda.

Pujara made his Test debut in 2010 against Australia, scoring 4 and 72 in a winning effort in the Second Test at Bangalore. Pujara soon became India’s mainstay in the middle order in the longest format and took over at No.3 following Rahul Dravid’s retirement.

In 99 Tests so far, Pujara has scored 7021 runs at an average of 44.15 with 19 centuries and 34 half-centuries, with a best score of 206*, which came against England in Ahmedabad in 2012. He is at number 7 in India’s all-time list of players with most centuries. – Behind only Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sunil Gavaskar, Virat Kohli, Virender Sehwag, Mohammad Azharuddin.
