The Andhra Pradesh Police Crime Investigation Department (CID) has also requested the court for the 15-day custody of the former CM, who is in judicial custody in an alleged Skill Development scam

With the order on the ‘house custody’ petition of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu due later today, the Andhra Pradesh police have put all 19 MLAs of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on house arrest.

These legislators were also prohibited from meeting other party colleagues or relatives, in an effort to prevent any law and order situation in the state.

As a preventative measure, police also detented some key TDP leaders in view of the shutdown called by the party on Monday, which proved effective as a minimal impact of the bandh was seen in most parts of the state.

Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh Police Crime Investigation Department (CID) has also requested the court for the 15-day custody of the former CM, who is in judicial custody in an alleged Skill Development scam.

Naidu is presently placed under 14 days of judicial custody in a multi-crore scam case.

The Vijayawada ACB Court is expected to pronounce judgment on Naidu’s ‘house custody’ petition. Naidu’s counsel Sidharth Luthra has sought orders for his ‘house custody’ on the ground that he is Z plus category protectee and faces threat in jail.

He expressed doubts over the measures taken for his security in the jail. He pointed out that convicts in serious crimes are lodged in the jail.

Luthdra cited Supreme Court judgments for house custody in various six cases in support of his arguments.
