Chaitra Navratri 2023 Day 7: The seventh day of Navratri is celebrated by worshiping Maa Kalaratri, also known as Shubhankari, who is believed to preside over the planet Saturn. The seventh form of Goddess Durga is considered to be one of the fiercest forms, who drive away negative energies, demons and ghosts on their arrival. This manifestation of Goddess Durga also symbolizes purity, divinity and feminine power. Goddess Kalaratri, as her name suggests, means ‘time’ or death while ‘ratri’ means night. She drives away darkness and negativity and presents herself as the death of Kaal who appears like a dark night to the demons.

Speaking about the idol of Goddess Kalaratri, she is seen carrying a vajra and a scimitar in her two left hands, while the right hands are in the posture of giving and protecting. Kalaratri’s complexion is dark black and she rides a donkey. The festival began on March 22 and will end with Durga Ashtami and Ram Navami on March 29 and 30 respectively.
