Celebrity fitness trainer Namrata Purohit reveals how Yoga and Pilates can improve your life

Celebrity fitness trainer Namrata Purohit, who is also actress Janhvi Kapoor’s Pilates instructor, Sara Ali Khan And Malaika Arora Among others, enjoys immense popularity and rightly so. Her Instagram feed is full of fitness tips that she shares with her fans from time to time. In an interview, Purohit, who recently collaborated with Adidas, tells us how to live a better and healthier life.

How related are yoga and Pilates?

Although separate, yoga and Pilates are both forms of mind and body exercise and both focus on breathing and the connection of mind and body.

What is your advice for those who are thinking of incorporating yoga into their busy lives?

I think yoga can be an integral part of one’s life, as it helps to calm the mind, to be in tune with the body and also teaches one to be centered, grounded and connected to oneself. So doing yoga as a part of your busy life will not only help the body but will also be good for overall health and mental well-being.

How has this changed your life?

Pilates has certainly been a life-changer. It has taught me a lot about myself, my mind and my body. It has also taught me to appreciate what my body can do and to love it on every level. Pilates has also taught me to be patient, it has trained my mind to be calm and positive and has improved my outlook overall. It is now an integral part of my life and something that will stay with me forever.

What are essentials for yoga and pilates novices. And what should their mind space and diet be like?

Any approach should be holistic, customized and individualized. No two bodies are the same, no two fitness journeys are the same and so it’s important to understand where one stands and build from there. Having a coach who can design your regime and work towards your goals is extremely rewarding as well.

What are your thoughts on adidas’ Yoga Makes Space collection campaign?

I am thrilled to be associated with Adidas’ Yoga Make Space. It’s giving me a chance to leverage my strengths in Pilates in a more concrete way. Simultaneously, the brand started a discussion about mental health, which I think is a very important issue affecting many of us and needs to be talked about openly.
