Aam Aadmi Party has got a landslide victory in the Punjab Assembly elections. Many veterans were destroyed in the storm of AAP. The entire party of Captain Amarinder Singh, who was once the pivot of the politics of the state, got cleared. In these elections, except the Captain, all the other candidates of the party have forfeited their deposits.

In these elections, except Punjab Lok Congress supremo Captain Amarinder, no candidate could save his deposit. Captain was defeated by Ajitpal Kohli of Aam Aadmi Party in Patiala seat. Captain came second with a total of 28,231 votes. He got 27.28 percent of the total votes. This is the best performance among the candidates of his party.

Only 6 could cross 2000 figure

There were 6 candidates of Punjab Lok Congress who got less than 500 votes in their assembly constituency. Whereas 5 candidates got more than 500 and less than 1000 votes. At the same time, only 6 candidates remained between 1000 and 1500, 7 between 1500 and 2000, 4 among those who got votes above 2000 and above 2000. At the same time, only 4 candidates were able to cross the 5000 mark.

Less than 1 percent voting for 15 candidates

Of the 28 candidates in Captain’s party, 15 were those who got less than 1 per cent of the votes polled in their constituency. There were a total of 8 candidates who got votes between 1 to 2 percent. At the same time, only 5 candidates with voting percentage above 2 percent were from the Captain’s party.

28 seats came in the share of Punjab Lok Congress

After being removed from the post of Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh separated from the Congress and got his party registered in the name of Punjab Lok Congress. He contested the Punjab Legislative Assembly elections in association with the Bharatiya Janata Party and Shiromani Akali Dal (United). The alliance had agreed to give 65 seats to the BJP, 37 to the Punjab Lok Congress and 15 to the SAD(S). Captain had released the first list of 22 candidates of his party for the assembly elections. After this the second list was released. Later, many candidates of Punjab Lok Congress spoke of fighting on the BJP’s symbol. In such a situation, the share of Punjab Lok Congress was only 28 seats.
