For those unaware, the CICO diet is an acronym for “calories in, calories out,” which is a type of weight loss approach that focuses on creating a calorie deficit in a person’s diet. This diet trend puts focus on the principle that for a person to lose weight, one has to consume fewer calories than one can burn. The diet however does not restrict any specific food group, but rather highlights portion control and constant tracking of calorie intake.

In simple words, if your body’s caloric requirement is 2500 calories in a day and you have consumed only 1800 calories in the whole day then you will be running at a deficit of 700 calories which is very high from health point of view. For the simple reason that your body is in a calorie deficit, you will lose weight faster. However, to lose weight, calorie deficit alone will not work, but exercise also needs to be taken care of.
