Budget session of Parliament will start from January 31, Union Budget will be presented on February 1

The budget session of Parliament will begin from January 31, 2021. While the first session will end on February 11, the overall budget session will end on April 8, 2022.

After a month’s break, the second part of the session will begin on March 14 and end on April 8, reported PTI.

“I am also directed to inform you that the President will address both the Houses of Parliament assembled together at 11.00 a.m. on Monday, the 31st January, 2022, and the reasons for its summons to Parliament shall be explained in Article 87(I). Will inform in reference to the Constitution,” the Parliamentary Affairs Ministry said in a statement on Friday.

The recommendations of the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs were cited when the dates for the budget session were decided. The general budget will be presented on February 1.

The news comes after 402 employees in Parliament tested positive for Covid-19. Officials said 402 members of the 1,409 Parliament staff were tested positive for the virus from January 4 to 8, after which their samples were sent for genome sequencing to confirm the variant, ANI reported.
