Budget: Rs 35,581 crore allocated for Jammu and Kashmir – Kashmir Reader

New Delhi: Rs 35,581.44 crore was allocated to Jammu and Kashmir in the budget 2022-23 on Tuesday in the form of aid, grants and loans from the central government.
The erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir state was bifurcated into two union territories – Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh – on August 5, 2019, following the abrogation of Article 370. Both the Union Territories are currently under central governance.
While Rs 35,581.44 crore has been given to Jammu and Kashmir for 2022-23, Rs 34,704.46 crore in 2021-22, Rs 5,958 has been given to Ladakh, which is the same as the current financial year.
Most of the funds in Jammu and Kashmir’s budget – Rs 33,923 crore – are under central assistance.
Rs 273 crore has been given as grant for rehabilitation of Dal Nagin Lake and Rs 279 crore for contribution to UT Disaster Response Fund.
The budget includes Rs 500 crore as capital expenditure support for J&K, Rs 476.44 crore as equity grant for Ratle 800 MW Hydroelectric Project and Rs 130 crore for equity contribution for 624 MW Kiru Hydroelectric Project. are given as.
Among other union territories, Andaman and Nicobar Islands got Rs 5,703.65 crore as compared to Rs 5,923.64 crore in 2021-22.
Lakshadweep has been allocated Rs 1,394.75 crore. In the current financial year, this figure was Rs 1,296.26 crore.
Chandigarh has been allocated Rs 4,846.79 crore as compared to Rs 4,428.25 given in 2021-22.
Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu have been given Rs 2,374.10 crore. It was Rs 2,312.80 crore in the current financial year.
The budget also earmarked Rs 1,168 crore as devolution to Delhi, a union territory.
An amount of Rs 1,729.79 crore has also been shown as transfer to Puducherry.
