His demise has come as a big shock to the film and television industry. The noted filmmaker died of a heart attack in the early hours of Wednesday.

Mandira was seen paying her last respects and carrying the bithi outside her house. Traditionally, a woman is not expected to touch the bier or take it to the crematorium. But Mandira, who was inconsolable but strong, broke that stereotype as she picked up her husband’s meaning and tried to bid him goodbye in her own way.

Mandira and Raj married in 1999, they welcomed their first child in 2011. The couple adopted a girl child last year in the pandemic and named her Tara Bedi Kaushal.

Raj Kaushal had directed several commercials and also been a film director when he directed films like Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi and Shaadi Ka Laddoo.

Several Bollywood celebrities took to social media to mourn the death of Kaushal. Celebrities shared condolence messages for the late filmmaker’s wife, actress Mandira Bedi, and their children Veer and Tara.
