Box Office India stated, “Bachchan Pandey has seen a drop in collections on the second day and will collect in the 11 crore net range as the multiplex show has seen a drop in business with the audiences loving The Kashmir Files. Massive belts don’t like Saturdays. Due to Holi factor as single screen gains from day one. Kashmir Files is very strong on its second Saturday with collections set to be in 24-25 Crore net range which is the film’s highest score. Will be the biggest day ever for you and a big day on the coming Sunday.”

“The Kashmir Files”, featuring Anupam KherDarshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi have also been declared tax-free in states like Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Karnataka, Tripura and Goa.

The film, which is based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley in the 1990s, released theatrically on March 11 and reportedly collected around Rs 116 crore at the box office.

While Bachchan Pandey has registered decent numbers on its opening day, it is much lower than Akshay’s previous release ‘Sooryavanshi’, which earned Rs 26 crore on its first day. Directed by Farhad Samji, the action-comedy film ‘Bachchan Pandey’ is a remake of the 2014 Tamil film ‘Jigarthanda’.

Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and written by Nischay Kuttanda and Samji, ‘Bachchan Pandey’ also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Prateek Babbar, Abhimanyu Singh, Snehal Dabbi and Saharsh Kumar Shukla. The story of the film revolves around an aspiring director (Kriti) who wants to make a film on a deadly gangster (Akshay).
