‘Bomb blast’ diesel locomotive derails on railway track in Jharkhand’s Dhanbad

New Delhi: A portion of a railway track broke in an explosion in Jharkhand’s Dhanbad division early Saturday, derailing a diesel locomotive.

According to the railways, a “bomb explosion” took place between Garwa Road and Barkana section in Dhanbad division.

“Due to the unusual incident of bomb blast by alcoholic, the diesel engine derailed on Dhanbad division,” the railways was quoted as saying by PTI in its report.

,A diesel engine derailed on two wheels due to the explosion of a miscreant on Dhanbad division of EC Railway in the early hours today. No injuries or casualties were reported. The blast took place between DEMU and Richugutta stations of Dhanbad division of Jharkhand,” said Rajesh Kumar, CPRO, ECR.

According to sources, it was a Naxal-related incident.

No death or injury has been recorded.

Senior police have reached the spot and the track will be restored soon, officials said.
