Vinay Bhushan Das, MLA from Panisagar assembly constituency, was administered oath by Governor Satyadev Narayan Arya in the presence of Chief Minister Manik Saha and his cabinet colleagues.

Senior BJP MLA Binoy Bhushan Das took oath as the Pro-tem Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly at the Raj Bhavan in Agartala on Wednesday.

Das, MLA from Panisagar assembly constituency, was administered oath by Governor Satyadev Narayan Arya in the presence of Chief Minister Manik Saha and his cabinet colleagues.

Das said legislators of the 60-member assembly of the northeastern state would take oath on Thursday and Friday, adding that he would conduct the House till the new Speaker and Deputy Speaker were elected.

The next assembly session is scheduled to begin on March 24. The vote-on-account will be placed before the House during the brief session as the budget for 2023-24 could not be prepared due to the assembly elections.

Notably, seventy-year-old BJP leader Manik Saha was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tripura for the second time on 8 March.

The Governor also administered the oath to eight more ministers, including Ratan Lal Nath, Pranjit Singh Roy, Sanatan Chakma, Vikas Debbarma and Sukla Charan Noatia.

In the recently held assembly elections in Tripura, the BJP won 32 seats, while its ally, the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura, managed to win one seat.

Regional party Tipra Motha got 13 assembly seats, while the CPI(M)-Congress alliance got 14 seats.
