In a special tribute to the athletes participating in the Tokyo Olympics 2020, West Bengal State BJP leaders and supporters today run 1km on the red road holding the Indian National Flag.
While Indian athletes are performing at the Tokyo Olympics, BJP leaders from the state of West Bengal have organized marathon races to promote the youth of Bengal. On Sunday morning, the BJP will run for a cause, to appease the athletes who have made the country proud in international competition.
The BJP had already informed the Kolkata Police about this program by writing a letter. But the Kolkata Police did not allow them amid the situation of Kovid.
Complications arose when BJP state president Dilip Ghosh challenged him saying he would continue the marathon without permission.
According to the scheduled program at around 8 am today, BJP State President of West Bengal Dilip Ghosh, former BJP State Youth President Saumitra Khan, All India Youth General Secretary and MP Raju Bista along with other BJP leaders including Rahul Sinha, Jayaprakash Majumdar joined the race. . He first garlanded the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on Red Road and then started the race.
BJP supporters followed their leaders and covered the stipulated 1 km distance carrying the national flag in Maidan tents, where the leaders without any interruption garlanded the statue of Shyama Prasad Mookerjee. He distributed symbolic medals among supporters to celebrate the success of Indian athletes in the Tokyo Olympics.
State President Dilip Ghosh said, ‘This is a non-political program. This is only to appease the athletes who have participated in the Tokyo Olympics. While TMC is shouting “Khela hobe” but the real game is in Tokyo.
Former BJP state youth president Soumitra Khan said, “We are grateful that we were not stopped from organizing the marathon, otherwise it will be clear that the state government is against those Indian athletes who are making the entire country proud.” All India BJP youth general secretary said, “There is a bigger motive for such an event beyond politics.”
India has so far won a silver medal in the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
