Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi on Friday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday appointed Rajya Sabha member Laxmikant Vajpayee as its new Chief Whip in the House. Former Uttar Pradesh BJP president Bajpai has replaced Shiv Pratap Shukla.

“Lakshmikant Vajpayee has been appointed as the chief whip of the BJP in the Rajya Sabha,” Joshi said. Bajpai has served as a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly four times.

Meanwhile, the BJP has again appointed Piyush Goyal as its leader in the Upper House. The party is yet to meet its deputy leader in the House after Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi retires.
