New Delhi: Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has expressed concern over the new coronavirus variant amid the continued spread of Omicron across the world.
Through a series of tweets, Bill Gates tried to alert people about the dangerous version that is spreading in the western world and taking the cases to an alarming level. Emphasizing the danger of the new strain, Gates said that omicron is spreading faster than any other type and that’s why people need to be vigilant. He said that if timely and necessary precautions are not taken, the world may go into the worst phase of the pandemic. His warning comes at a time when Omicron has become the dominant version in the United States.
The Microsoft co-founder also said that the surge in Omicron cases around the world is worrying. In a series of tweets, Bill Gates revealed that he has canceled most of his vacation plans in the wake of the global repercussions of the new tension. He said that many of his close friends have been infected with the new strain, requiring people to stay away from complacency and take necessary precautions. “If we are not careful, we could go through a worse phase of the pandemic. When it seemed like life would return to normal, we could be entering the worst of the pandemic. For all of us Omicron will be knocking at home. My closest friends have it now, and I’ve canceled most of my vacation plans.”

In a later tweet, Gates said, while not much is known omicron Nevertheless, it needs to be taken seriously. He said that even though it is less lethal than the delta version, everyone is at risk because it is highly contagious.
If there’s good news here, it’s that Omicron moves so fast that once it dominates a country, the wave there should last less than 3 months. Those few months may be bad, but I still believe that if we take the right steps, the pandemic may end in 2022.
