Bikram Singh Majithia defamation case: Arrest warrant issued for Sanjay Singh; AAP MP appeared only 4 times in 71 dates, orders to produce police in court by September 17

The district court has issued orders for the arrest of senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh in the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia defamation case. In this case, warrants have been issued for the non-appearance of Sanjay Singh. Now he has to appear in the court himself or the police can arrest him. The case against the AAP MP is going on in the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Harsimran Singh. He was not appearing in court for a long time. On Monday also Maheshinder Singh Grewal’s cross examination was to be held but Sanjay Singh’s lawyers denied it. The court has given this decision on this.

Sanjay Singh has appeared only four times out of 71
The defamation case against Sanjay Singh was filed by Bikram Singh Majithia in 2016. MLAs Manpreet Singh Ayali, Maheshinder Grewal and Sharanjit Singh Dhillon are witnesses in the case. So far, 71 dates have fallen in the court in the case, out of which Sanjay Singh has appeared in the court only four times. Even today, when his lawyer came to the court, the judge asked about the presence of Sanjay Singh. If not, the judge issued the order and asked the AAP MP to be arrested on September 17 and produced in the court.

Drug smugglers said in Moga’s political rally
During the rally in Moga in 2016 before the 2017 assembly elections, Shiromani Akali Dal leaders were described as drug smugglers. After this Bikram Singh Majithia filed a defamation case in the court. In 2016 itself, charges were framed against Sanjay Singh and Bikram Singh Majithia was asked to pay his witnesses.

Warrants have been issued for September 17
Advocate Daman Sobti, appearing for Bikram Singh Majithia, said that the witnesses are going on in the case. Now in this case, the testimony of Maheshinder Singh Grewal was to be cross-examined, but the lawyers of the other side said that there was no preparation. For this reason, while pronouncing the verdict, the court has ordered the police to produce Sanjay Singh on September 17.

Anticipatory bail petition will be filed on Tuesday itself
Sanjay Singh’s lawyer Ramesh Kapoor says that he will move the anticipatory bail plea in the court on Tuesday. Sanjay Singh could not appear due to being busy in political work. He respects the court and has always cooperated in the matter.
