Bihar government has started ‘Didi’s Library’ established under Jeevika to promote the habit of reading among children in villages.

The Chief Minister inaugurated the first Didi’s Library or Community Library in Singheshwar. Nitish Kumar On 10 February.

At least 100 libraries have been opened in 32 districts.

Community Libraries and Career Development Centers (CLCDCs) have also been set up in many blocks of the state.

Kumar said that a total of 12,318 members are registered in all the 100 community libraries, of which about 80 per cent are girls.

So far, 63 government buildings have been acquired for the purpose, while the remaining 37 are being developed into private houses to be hired by Jeevika.

The building earmarked for the operation of CLCDC consists of a hall which can accommodate about 30-40 people and two rooms, one room being used as physical and digital library-cum-office and the other room being used as study room. is done as ,

The hall is used for other teaching-training activities including conducting digital and physical classes as per the requirement.

The library has books for the preparation of various higher education entrance exams including textbooks, e-books and notes for classes 9th to 12th.

Rohan Rai, a resident of Singheshwar, who works as a laborer, told that the girls are not able to study properly at home. The library is helping to promote education among rural children, who due to various reasons did not get time and facilities to study at their homes.

He said that such a facility in the village would prove effective in the field of girls’ education.
