Patna: Ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Monday asked all its MLAs to be present in their respective Legislative Assemblies during the ongoing business hours monsoon Ensure smooth passage of various bills to be introduced by the state government in the remaining four days of the current session.
The five-day monsoon session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly began on Monday (July 25) and will continue till July 30. The state government plans to introduce at least six bills, three of which pertain to the establishment of three new universities in the state.
Addressing a crucial meeting of the NDA Legislature Party, which was convened to discuss floor management strategies for the monsoon session, senior NDA leaders reminded the legislators of the ruling coalition’s low majority in the Assembly and said that if With some ruling members also leaving the House, it will be difficult for the government to pass its bills smoothly.
The ruling NDA has four constituents – BJP, JD(U), HAM(S) and VIP and its current total strength in the 241-member assembly is 125, just four members from a majority strength of 121. Two seats in the 243-member assembly are currently vacant after the death of two MLAs.
Of the total 125 NDA MLAs, 74 are from BJP, JD(U) (43), Ham (S) (4), VIP (4) and Independent (Sumit Kumar Singh)-one.
Four MLAs of VIP and its chief and MLC Mukesh Sahni did not attend the meeting.
The party meeting of NDA MLAs held in the Central Hall of the Assembly was addressed by CM Nitish Kumar, Deputy CM Tar Kishore Prasad (BJP), Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, HAM(S) chief Jitan Ram Manjhi and some other senior leaders. Did. BJP and JD(U) K.
Most of the speakers in the meeting urged the legislators not to step out of their homes during critical business hours to ensure smooth passage of the bills.
Sources said some NDA MLAs also expressed their opposition to Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav’s demand that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar should apologize for the alleged attack on opposition MLAs in the Assembly during the last budget session.
