Bihar: ‘Did you come to see the film?’, the judge reprimanded the IAS officer

In a meeting filled with ‘address code’, the judge reprimanded the IAS officer. The angry judge asked the IAS officer, “Have you come to see the film?” The incident took place in the Patna High Court. The judge also told the IAS officer how to come to the court in uniform.

Anand Kishor, Secretary, Urban Development Department, Government of Bihar, was present in the court during the hearing of a case on Friday. The secretary was wearing a white shirt and trousers. The buttons were open. Seeing such a dress, Justice PB Bajanthary was enraged. After stopping the hearing, the judge asked the secretary, “What films are these? Didn’t you learn all this at the Civil Services Training Institute in Mussoorie?” No? The IAS officer was a bit unprepared. He said that he did not know that there is a special dress code to be followed in court. On hearing this, the judge said that the IAS officer should have come wearing a blazer with buttons on the shirt.

It is learned that the judge who made the remarks is believed to be close to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The video of the judge’s reprimand has gone viral on social media. Many people have commented on this video. Some have criticized the judge’s remarks for wasting the court’s precious time on the dress code, while others have argued that the IAS officer should have come in perfect clothes. However, similar incidents took place in the Calcutta High Court as well. Several years ago, Justice Dipankar Dutta reprimanded a government servant for not wearing proper attire.
