According to reports, the NC told the court on Tuesday that the accused was working for a Pakistani drug smuggler. A custody application was filed by the agency on Monday evening. Commercial reward of 2500 kg of methamphetamine is close to Rs 25,000 crore

Two days after the mega drug haul in Indian waters was busted by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in a joint operation with the Indian Navy, the anti-drug agency has now announced the latest assessment of the contraband. The actual commercial value of 2500 kg of high purity methamphetamine seized on May 13 is close to Rs 25,000 crore.

2500 kg of methamphetamine seized

Earlier on May 13, NCB, Indian Navy and Coast Guard had seized around 2500 kg of Methamphetamine obtained from Death Crescent in Indian waters. The raid was carried out with the help of Marine Commandos and is believed to be the biggest consignment of contraband.

The street value of the drug is around Rs 25,000 crore

A senior NCB official said, “In our inspection, we found that the quality of the seized contraband is very high. At present, the estimated market value of the drugs is around Rs 25,000 crore.”

According to a PTI report, the agency claimed that the latest consignment of over 2,500 kg of methamphetamine was from Afghanistan to India, Sri Lanka and Maldives. The drug cache began on a “mother ship” – a large vessel that distributes narcotics to various boats during their travels – off the Makran Coast around Pakistan and Iran.
