Archana Gautam also recalled how she was ‘heartbroken and shattered’ after moving to Mumbai as she had no money.

Archana Gautam, who emerged as the third runner-up of Bigg Boss 16, has become a popular name. The model-turned-politician was often hailed as one of the most entertaining contestants on Salman Khan’s show. While Archana is enjoying the success of Bigg Boss 16, in a recent interview, she opened up about her struggle days and revealed how she survives in Mumbai without money.

Archana recalls her first job for Rs 6000

Archana talks about her first tele calling job and reveals that she used to earn Rs 6000 per month back then. “I paid my rent, expenses and everything in that amount. I used to travel by bus to my work,” she said. However, when the company folded, Archana decided to participate in a reality show in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.

“Ravi Kishan, who was one of the judges, saw me there and suggested that I try acting. But I didn’t see myself as an actor. I always felt that I was not pretty enough to be an actress but she told me that I have it in me. At that time I felt that I can do something in life. I moved to Mumbai with my father and brother.”

Archana Gautam remembers being bitten by rats

Archana recalled living in a chawl in Mumbai because she had ‘no money’. She revealed how she used to cover her entire body before sleeping to protect herself from being bitten by rats. “I rented a place in Mumbai and it was in a chawl. The roof was such that it got very hot in the afternoon and I could neither sleep nor stay inside. Rats used to live in that locality at night, they used to bite my feet while I was sleeping. I stayed there with great difficulty and survived only on vada pav or dabeli as I had no money. I used to cover my entire body to avoid being bitten by rats,” Archana told E-Times.

When Archana used to go to Surat to earn 5000 rupees

During the conversation, Archana also recalled how she was ‘heartbroken and shattered’ after moving to Mumbai as she had no money. She used to go to the mall to get some respite from the hot weather. “It was very difficult to live in my rented house and I used to go to malls to get relief from the hot, humid weather. I used to go to Surat for shoots and change 100 sarees in a day to get Rs 5000 as payment. Back pain, joint pain. I felt hopeless and wondered if I would make it,” she shared.
