Bigg Boss 16 contestant Sumbul Touqueer Khan’s team has issued a statement alleging that the former Imlie actress is being mocked in the reality show. The statement mentions that Sumbul’s ‘ongoing repetitive mockery’ in Bigg Boss 16 has ‘compelled’ their team to react and condemn it. The team also argued that their ‘silence was perceived as weakness’ and that they were waiting for the right time to respond.
“Sumbul started acting at a very young age, served as the star of one of the most popular shows, and his achievements have always made us proud. His dedication towards his career and selflessness helped him carve out his own unique identity. This season marks the first time tears are discussed as a sign of cowardice or weakness. The highest consideration has been given to Sumbul’s feelings, especially when everyone’s feelings are assessed differently,” the statement read.
Sumbul’s team also alleged that the actress’s ‘personality’ has been questioned several times in the Bigg Boss 16 house. Not only this, he also claimed that his ‘character has also been criticized’. “We kept quiet despite Papa Tauqeer’s name coming up in almost every episode. While the contestants were glorified for working in the kitchen and cooking for the entire household, Sumbul’s hard work was labeled as a maid. When loyalty used to be the key to the game, Sumbul’s loyalty was valued,” the statement said.
The 19-year-old actress also questioned the makers of Bigg Boss and accused them of bending the rules when it came to Sumbul. “We condemn the continuous ridicule of Sumbul Taugir Khan on national television. His personality has been suppressed to highlight other things. She persevered, and so did we,” he wrote. The statement concluded by claiming that Sumbul has been an ‘easy target’ by her co-contestants on the show.
