Bhaskar LIVE Updates: Farmers called Mahapanchayat in Karnal today; Administration imposed section 144, internet and bulk SMS service stopped in 5 districts

The United Kisan Morcha has said that like Muzaffarnagar, farmers from all over the country will gather to participate in the Mahapanchayat.

Farmers have called a mahapanchayat in Haryana’s Karnal on Tuesday. Haryana Government has stopped internet and bulk SMS services of all mobile companies in 5 districts of the state. The districts where these services have been stopped include Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Panipat and Jind besides Karnal.

The United Kisan Morcha (SKM) has announced that a Mahapanchayat will be organized in Karnal on 7 September, in which farmers from all over the country will gather to participate, just like in Muzaffarnagar. During this many issues will be discussed. As a precaution, Section 144 has been imposed in the area.

On the other hand, Section-144 has been implemented in Karnal district in view of the farmers’ Mahapanchayat. To prevent farmers from reaching the mini secretariat, 40 companies of security forces, including paramilitary forces, will be present. The district administration has decided to divert traffic on the Chandigarh-New Delhi National Highway to avoid inconvenience to the people. Under this, the traffic coming from Delhi on GT Road will be diverted from Panipat and the traffic coming from Chandigarh side will be diverted from Kurukshetra itself. Four different routes have been made for the movement of vehicles.
