Government approves 22,000 crore military aircraft deal
The Defense Ministry on Friday signed a deal worth around Rs 22,000 crore with Spain’s Airbus Defense and Space. Under this, India will buy 56 ‘C-295’ medium transport aircraft. These aircraft will replace the Avro-748 aircraft of the Indian Air Force. Airbus Defense and Space will hand over 16 flight-capable aircraft within 48 months. The remaining 40 aircraft will be manufactured in India. The long-pending deal was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Security two weeks ago.
