The pension they get ranges from Rs 3.50 lakh to Rs 5.25 lakh. This puts a burden on the public exchequer. Some of these politicians have also worked as Members of Parliament and they get that pension too,” he said.

The Chief Minister said that the money thus saved would be used for the welfare of the people. “I have already asked the officials to reduce the family pension of all MPs,” he said.

The MLAs get a pension of Rs 75,150 for one term. For each subsequent term, MLAs in Punjab are given an additional 66 percent of the pension amount.
