Arsenal completed the signing of Belgium forward Trossard from Brighton and Hove Albion on Friday

Premier League leaders Arsenal completed the signing of Brighton forward Leandro Trossard on Friday, a week after missing out on transfer target Mykhailo Mudric.

Arsenal said in a statement that it signed the 28-year-old Belgian winger on a “long-term contract” without specifying for how many years. The value of the deal was not disclosed.

Trossard joined Arsenal as an attacking substitute in the absence of Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus, who had injured his knee. World Cup, and joins after the Gunners were unable to lure 22-year-old Mudrik. Shakhtar Donetsk accepted a 100-million-euro ($108 million) offer from Chelsea.

Arsenal are five points clear of defending champions Manchester City, who have played a game less, and are chasing a first league title since 2004.
