Beating Retreat: Drones, laser show, military bands mark end of Republic Day celebrations

The Republic Day week culminated today with the ceremonial ‘Beating Retreat’ at Vijay Chowk in New Delhi. The highlight of this year’s Beating Retreat ceremony was 1,000 Made in India drones making different formations. The Beating Retreat ceremony is held on January 29 every year to mark the conclusion of the Republic Day celebrations. Earlier, only the Indian Army, the Navy, and the Air Force, were part of the Beating Retreat ceremony but since 2016 marching bands from other police forces have also been invited to perform at the ceremony.
