In this month i.e. in the month of November, private and public sector banks across the country will be closed for more than half of the 30 days. In running week From November 1 to November 8, lenders will close their doors for five days in some parts of the country. Meanwhile, private and public sector banks will remain closed for 17 days in the month of November. In this regard, you should also note that this should not be of much concern as these holidays are state wise. For this, only some branches of banks in the respective states will remain closed during the above days. They are usually not uniform in nature, except for a few days. For example, banks will remain closed in Bengaluru on Monday on Kannada Rajyotsava, but services will remain available in other parts of the country.
Bank holidays are effective as per the list issued by Reserve Bank of India or RBI. According to a list of the central bank, the number of holidays this month has been fixed at 11. The rest are weekend leaves. This includes all Sundays of the month as well as the second and fourth Saturdays. Banks are open on the first and third Saturdays of every month. The list of RBI holidays falls into three categories. These are state wise celebrations, religious holidays and festival celebrations.
The Reserve Bank of India notification for holidays has been notified under three brackets namely ‘Holidays under Negotiable Instruments Act’, ‘Holidays under Negotiable Instruments Act and Real Time Gross Settlement Holidays’ and ‘Closing Accounts of Banks’ Are included. On these notified holidays, all branches of banks including public sector, private sector, foreign banks, co-operative banks and regional banks will remain closed.
As per the RBI holiday list for the coming month, all banks across the country, except Bengaluru, will remain closed on Diwali, which falls on November 4. Further, only weekend holidays will be applicable to all banks equally. All over India in a single day.
