Bank Holidays in January: As we approach the end of the first month of the year, the bank holidays of the month were largely over in the early days. All private and public sector banks will remain closed for two days in the last week of January, one of which is a Sunday. If we count from Monday, January 24, the banks will be closed for two days – on January 26 and on January 30 – during the last week of January. On that note, you should know that January had 16 bank holidays, of which 14 have already been used, including weekend holidays.
Reserve Bank of India has issuedbank holidays for the year 2022 in its annual list. The holidays have been prepared according to this list. On that note, you should also note that this should not be of much concern as these bank holidays are largely state-wise. This means that they are usually not uniform in nature.
Bank holidays are effective as per the list issued by Reserve Bank of India or RBI. According to a list of the central bank, the number of holidays this month has been fixed at 16. The rest are weekend leaves. This includes all Sundays of the month as well as the second and fourth Saturdays. Banks are open on the first and third Saturdays of every month. The central bank’s notification for holidays has been notified under three brackets namely ‘Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act’, ‘Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act’ and ‘Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday’ and ‘Banks’ Closing of Accounts. ‘ Are included. On these notified holidays, all branches of banks, including public sector, private sector, foreign banks, co-operative banks and regional banks, will remain closed.
