Afghanistan chased down the target of 193 runs in just 40.1 overs riding on a brilliant century from Rahmanullah Gurbaz to register a 7-wicket win over Bangladesh at the Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Monday.

The Afghan spinners laid a net in the middle overs to derail the Bangladeshi innings and bowled out the hosts for 192 runs. Gurbaz then made the chase easy, adding yet another feather to his new cap, scoring 106 runs.

Legspinner Rashid Khan claimed 3-37 as Bangladesh were bowled out for 192 in 46.5 overs. Gurbaz, who has now converted all three of his half-centuries into hundreds in just nine matches, then came up with 59 balls to help Afghanistan race to victory.

Rahmat Shah scored 47 and opener Riyaz Hasan scored 35 runs.

Gurbaz hit seven fours and four sixes in his unbeaten 106 off 110 balls and made two crucial partnerships to take the team closer to victory.

He and Riaz gave Afghanistan a solid start, combining for an opening stand of 79 in front of left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hasan, who was later stumped for breaking.

After this Gurbaz added 100 more for the second wicket with Rahmat Shah.

Offspinner Mehdi Hasan struck twice, ending the partnership by dismissing Shah and then taking the wicket of Afghan captain Hashmatullah Shahi.
