Baby-smuggling ring busted in Delhi, six women arrested Delhi News – Times of India

New Delhi: Delhi Police Officials said on Saturday that six female members of a gang have been arrested on charges of child trafficking.
Police said the gang involved in the smuggling of more than 50 babies used to buy them from parents of poor economic background with money and later sell them to childless couples for huge sums of money.
On December 17, the police had received information that the gang members would come near the cremation ground. Gandhi Nagar, to sell an infant at around 3.30.
Following this, a raid was conducted and three women along with a seven to eight-month-old boy were nabbed from the spot. Three more gang members were arrested the next day and a girl child was rescued, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rajesh Deo said.
Those arrested have been identified as Priya Jain, Priya, Kajal, Rekha, Shivani and Premvati, officials said.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that some of them had come in contact with the IVF center and started donating their eggs to be used in the IVF process. Police said that in the process, they came in contact with many couples who had no children of their own and could not even undergo the IVF process.
The gang will identify a pregnant woman with poor financial background and deal with her and her husband. Police said that when the child was born, they used to keep it with them.
They will simultaneously identify multiple potential buyers and circulate the child’s picture among all the brokers through WhatsApp and sell the child to the person who has agreed to buy, DCP said.
Kajal and Priyanka are the masterminds of the gang. It is feared that their network is spread in other states as well. Police said that Priyanka is absconding and efforts are on to arrest the rest of the accused.
