Australia to tour Bangladesh for five T20 Internationals in August, 20-man squad announced

Australia will tour Bangladesh for a five-match T20I series from August 3 to 9, it has been confirmed. All matches will be played at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. The tour will be Australia’s first Bangladesh tour since September 2017, when they toured the country for two Tests in Dhaka and Chattogram.

Earlier, Australia had canceled its 2015 tour and pulled out of the 2016 Under-19 World Cup due to security reasons. Both Australia and Bangladesh are expected to reach Dhaka after the West Indies and Zimbabwe complete their tours respectively on July 29.

Australia will arrive by charter flight from Barbados to Dhaka. Upon arrival, both squads will undergo a three-day room quarantine period at the hotel, which will be completely off-limits to the public.

After the short period of quarantine is over, both the teams will start practice at the stadium from August 1 before the series.

Australia will have no change in their squad of 20 currently in the Caribbean. This means that first-choice players David Warner, Glenn Maxwell, Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, Marcus Stoinis and Jhye Richardson will continue to be dropped.

Bangladesh and Australia have met each other four times in T20Is. There have been four meetings in the T20 World Cup, in which Australia has emerged victorious on all occasions.

Australia squad: Aaron Finch (c), Ashton Agar, Wes Agar, Jason Behrendorff, Alex Carey, Dan Christian, Josh Hazlewood, Moises Henriques, Mitchell Marsh, Ben McDermott, Riley Meredith, Josh Phillippe, Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Swepson, Ashton Turner , Andrew Tye, Matthew Wade (vice-captain) and Adam Zampa.

Meanwhile, Australia registered a comprehensive victory in the ongoing ODI series against West Indies. Australia beat West Indies for 123 runs on Tuesday to win the first ODI by 133 runs after Mitchell Starc took five for 48 and beat Josh Hazlewood 3-11.

West Indies’ innings was battered 27-6 in the eighth over and they were eventually all out in the 27th over, chasing a revised total of 257 in 49 overs in a rain-hit match.
