Assets Case: 5-year Jail For Fisheries Official | Mangaluru News – Times of India

Mangaluru: The third additional district and sessions court judge B B Jakati has awarded five-year simple imprisonment and penalty of Rs 1.30 crore on a senior official of the fisheries department for amassing assets disproportionate to known source of income.
Special public prosecutor for Lokayutha Raveendra Munnippady said the court had held Gangadhara V Maddikeri, joint director, directorate of fisheries, Bengaluru, guilty. Karnataka Lokayukta police Mangaluru had registered a case after conducting a raid on August 5, 2013, under Section 13(1)(e) read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act against the accused. Gangadhara will have to undergo six additional six months of simple imprisonment in case of failure to pay the penalty, he said.
