Assam: Narcotics worth Rs 10 crore seized, one arrested Guwahati News – Times of India

Guwahati: Assam Police Huge amount recovered on Thursday drugs and narcotics worth Rs 10 crore in the international market in Goalpara district of western Assam. One Jehangir Alom has been arrested in this connection from Bhalukdubi in the district.
He has been charged under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS). Giving this information, the Director General of Police (DGPBhaskar Jyoti Mahant said that the drugs were hidden in an underground room. “The accused man also had a mini factory in his house where he made codeine based cough syrup. Police recovered three machines for labeling and sealing and nine drums (4,000 liters) of raw material for preparation of cough syrup. Besides, heroin, tables like yaba, nitrozepam, spasmo were also recovered from the house along with cash,” he said.
The DGP said that the police also seized an excavator vehicle bolero Pickup vans, a Maruti Alto vehicle and an electric rickshaw from Alom’s residence.
On the night of 21 June, police in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district arrested two Tamil women and a Manipuri man with around three kilograms of banned drugs worth Rs 12 crore in the international market.
The arrested women have been identified as Lashmi D and Punjabiram, while the man has been identified as Khoiram Basant Singha.
